How this site is paid for

Can I Plug In Solar is free to use, with no sign-up. It is paid for in two ways, and neither changes the numbers you see.

Affiliate links to kits

Some links to plug-in solar kits are affiliate links: if you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Every one of them has a "Paid link" label right next to it, not just a note in the footer, and carries rel="sponsored" so search engines know too.

We only list a kit once we've checked its UL 3700 certification status, and we show that status next to the kit.

Installer quotes

The "Get roof solar quotes" button on a result may also be a paid referral. It is labelled the same way.

What is never paid

• The state law cards and state pages. No ads, no affiliate links, ever.
• The calculation. Savings and payback come from the same model whether or not a kit earns us anything. See how we calculate.

Display ads may appear on some pages in the future. They will never appear in the law card.
